INTERIOR DESIGN
Garrison’s interior design work has been described as warm, streamlined and comfortable, with his preferred method of design a mix of contemporary and traditional elements.
He prefers texture over pattern in the fabrics that are selected, and has experience working either in a more restricted palette and neutral tones, or a mixture of color and pattern. Both are appropriate design options when handled correctly.
Garrison is intent on creating a home environment that meets or exceeds your objectives for comfort, efficiency and beauty. Through the skilled use of texture, color, fabrics, accessories, lighting and furnishings he will create home living areas that are defined by your requirements and desires. He has a strong belief that proper lighting is crucial. This would involve not only permanently installed fixtures, but perhaps even more importantly, the accurate placement, quantity, and design of table lamps, reading lamps, small lights to highlight works of art, and other ambient light sources. These services can bring out the very best in your home.
His strong vision and passion for design come through on every project. But what is perhaps most remarkable is his ability to work in greatly different styles according to his client’s tastes. His extensive experience in the renovation of older homes helps give him the experience and knowledge to keep the integrity of the home but to make it your own with the correct design elements.
Garrison states, “Throughout the process I see through my clients eyes, listen to their hopes, wishes, and needs, and even help them see what they never imagined. Invariably we bond on a deep level, so the result is a true collaboration”. He reminds his clients there is so much more than any one can realize that goes on “behind the scenes” in the design process. What satisfies Garrison, as an interior designer is not only the discovery process, but also that moment when the client walks into their completed home and pauses to catch their breath and expresses their happiness.
FLORAL DESIGN
Garrison takes time to work with each client's individual needs to ensure their floral arrangements are as memorable as the special occasion. His inspiration comes from observing nature, and observing trends in architecture, interior design and fashion. He feels that fresh gorgeous flowers in adventurous color combinations and a variety of interesting natural materials are what allow him to create such fresh and lush floral arrangements. Garrison provides his clients with the most creative and unique floral designs.
Garrison describes his style as “natural, opulent and bold with a European flare.” He combines the highest quality of flowers with fruits, vegetables, grasses and branches in innovative ways. Garrison has a reputation for working with individuals who are staging their homes for open houses, creating extraordinary holiday décor for their home, and producing elegant floral designs for private dinners or events. One such client commented “Garrison is known for his fresh, naturalistic approach...he transformed the rock-crystal vessel into an elemental base from which each bloom and leaf reveal its graceful structure”.
INTERESTS
Garrison lives in a restored 1909 Portland Foursquare Craftsman, enjoys being in his garden with his family and rescued greyhounds, takes time out to design and make stained glass windows and is still developing his skill in fusing and slumping glass. Art is bountiful in Garrison’s home and garden, as he is always looking for the right spot for the next piece of art.
